Lesser crowd, nice environment, with dining pavilions by the rice fields, Duck was marvellously crispy fried to perfection, somehow the pungent "duck" smell has been eradicated by their marinade of fragrant spices...Try to get the outdoor seats nearest to the rice fields, right under the coconut trees, the reward is a dining experience in serene relaxing atmosphere...Date of visit November 2012ValueAtmosphereServiceFoodAsk Adcye about Bebek Tepi SawahThank Adcye This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I assume as a former chef i know too much the sambals are probably not refrigerated as they do come room temp. I guess when it's freshly that would've been fine, but if it has been out for a couple of hours.....well.....fermentation, acidity, etc.....rises and will wreak havoc inside your stomach hours later.....eventhough temporary this could be any case.....the food is good, the place is sorry just okay, in my opinion, the crowds.....well, you should come early and ask if you could be seated away by the rice fields for more of visit November 2012ValueAtmosphereServiceFoodAsk Cycliste D about Bebek Tepi SawahThank Cycliste D This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Been reading some reviews that stating the duck was bad, but I think it were merely because they had different taste, some people might prefer dry duck and some other might like not-so-dry. But for me, I love the duck. The paddy fields view was astonishing. It is true that the price was a bit expensive, but almost all restaurant in tourist area in Bali are over-priced their menu, so Bebek Tepi Sawah price is just fair compare to other cafe/restaurant. Capt_LongshanksReviewed 18 May 2011 We decided to try another duck restaurant this year since we've already been to Bebek Bengil last year. Bebek Tepi Sawah has a great view of the rice paddies and although we haven't tried everything on the menu, the crispy duck was so great my friend went back the next day for a second helping. Staff were very attentive and helpful, too, which is a big plus. Will be returning to this place. The restaurants sets itself in the middle of a 'sawah' / paddy field where patrons can choose to dine seated on chairs or on the wooden plank floors in small food are reasonably priced and taste amazingly delicious. If you can stand spicy food, ask triple heap of all the tiny chilli pots they provide with your main dishes. We tried both their crispy duck as well as chicken rise. As a side order, weordered a nice plate of gado-gado to food and atmosphere here are lovely. We were surprise of the service it was so quick. This restaurant specialities in duck so order duck and a pork ribs. It was delicious and the duck I had was very tender and it just the right portion. Even the Bebek Bengil/dirty duck is not better than here. This over looking rice view restaurant even made our time more enjoyable when they serve a complimentary home made coconut ice cream which we never order before and it was fantastic taste. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Sorry, I just called over there and they said they are NOT halal... But there are several good Nasi Padang restaurants in Ubud that are of course... One on Jalan Hanoman, and two on Jalan Raya Ubud the main road . Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago You are welcome...a very easy thing for me to do and I'm happy to help.. i am sure you would do the same! If you have to have the crispy duck then Bebek Bengil is an ok place, but it's highly over rated. I'm sorry that Tepi Sawah could not suit as it's much better than Bebek Bingil Dirty Duck. Have a wonderful trip! Level Contributor 30 posts 22 reviews 12 helpful votes 4. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Hi Arissyam Oh, I'm so sorry...strange that they would have a mussholla and yet also serve pork. Frankly, I don't think you have missed too much.. Crispy duck many years ago was meaty and delicious. And it became a famous food because it used to be good. Now it's mostly just famous for being famous. There is such demand for duck now, the farmers are harvesting them when they are very small and have very little meat. To me, you can make almost the same thing yourself by marinating a duck in some spices and then putting it in a deep fryer until the duck turns very very dark brown.. Other than that problem, how did you enjoy your trip to Bali? Hope it was good... 6.
